Where can I get an infusion in Newcastle?
Hunter Blood Group operates a purpose-built infusion clinic at our Newcastle West rooms. Infusions are administered by experienced haematology nurses supervised by our specialist haematologists. We are also happy to consider other infusion therapies — contact us to discuss. Afterpay available for all infusion services.
Iron Infusions
Intravenous iron therapy for iron deficiency when oral supplements are ineffective or not tolerated. Typically 30–60 minutes.

Clot Clinic
Low-fee specialist care for DVT, pulmonary embolism, and venous thromboembolism. Over 800 patients seen per year since 2018.
Therapeutic Venesection
Controlled blood removal for haemochromatosis and polycythaemia. A simple 15–30 minute procedure at our rooms.
Port-A-Cath Care
Regular port flushing to keep devices patent, with the option to collect blood tests from the port at the same time.

Who are the haematologists at Hunter Blood Group?
Hunter Blood Group is one of the largest private haematology practices in regional NSW, with 13 specialist haematologists providing care across Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, and the New England region including Tamworth. Our team-based approach ensures you are seen by the most appropriate specialist considering the nature of your condition and its urgency.
All haematologists are accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), and most hold dual accreditation with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) as laboratory haematologists. The team is accredited at Calvary Mater Newcastle, John Hunter Hospital, Lake Macquarie Private, Newcastle Private, Maitland Private, Forster Private, Tamara Private, and Lingard Private hospitals. We also consult from rooms in Port Stephens and Tamworth, and offer telehealth consultations where clinically appropriate.
Infusions are provided by experienced haematology nurses with specialist training in cannulation and infusion management. On-site ultrasound is available for patients with difficult venous access.
