Appointments
We have haematologists available most days of the week. While we prefer face-to-face consultations for the first appointment, if you would prefer to have a video consultation, please let our staff know. We do not provide telephone consultations for initial assessments.
To make an appointment, we will need a referral from a doctor or specialist so we can allocate you to the right specialist within an appropriate timeframe. A referral is also required for you to receive your Medicare rebate for the consultation.
Our typical waiting times are:
- Urgent consultations: <1 week
- Routine consultations: <2 weeks
- Clot Clinic consultations: <1 month
You can choose your specialist, although some of our doctors have limited availability and there may be a wait of several weeks for your appointment. We will advise you if this is the case.
So that you get the most out of your consultation, please bring the following;
- Any recent blood test results (or take note of which pathology service you had the blood tests done at, and we can look them up online)
- Any imaging results that are relevant to your consultation. This can include CT scans, PET scans, ultrasounds and Xrays
- A list of your current medications
- A list of questions that you may have
